Q: What do I get?
A: All participants will receive the following schwag with their entry:

1.) Land Shark Lager fin hat
2.) Chicago Beachathon shirt
3.) Free Land Shark Lager*
4.) Land Shark Lager finisher lei (yes, all finishers will get lei’d at the finish line)
5.) Awesome overall winner awards

*Participants 21 years of age and older will receive one free beer with their entry. Additional beer will be available for purchase. Participants must be 21 years of age to enter the post-race Land Shark Luau.

Q: When is the 2011 Chicago Beachathon and when does registration open?
A: The 2011 Chicago Beachathon is Saturday, June 11th. Registration opens March 15th, 2011

Q: Are there any rules for the Chicago Beachathon?
A: Anything goes.

Q: So, I can run the race naked?
A: Well, that’s between you and the City of Chicago.

Q: What if the race is sold out before I can sign up, may I be placed on a waiting list?
A: Unfortunately no, the Chicago Beachathon sold out in 2009 and 2010 and we are unable to allow any additional registrations once capacity is reached.

Q: Is there a mud pit obstacle?
A: Yes, the Chicago Beachathon will feature a mud pit near the finish line. Participants who don’t want to get muddy will have the option to take an alternate beach obstacle. However, if getting muddy and jumping over fire is your thing, be sure to check out Hell Run at www.hellrun.com, it’s the most kick-ass mud run on earth!

Q: Can I dance my ass off at the post-race Land Shark Luau?
A: Of course, dance away!

Q: Is the entire 3.45 mile course on the beach?
A: No, most of the course takes place on Chicago’s lakefront running path. Only the 12 tropically outrageous beach obstacles venture onto the downtown beaches of Chicago.

Q: Is swimming required?
A: No, swimming is not required. Obstacles involving Lake Michigan will be 2’-3’ deep. Participants who don’t want to get wet will have the option to take an alternate beach obstacle that remains ashore.

Q: I’m going for the gold, do I have to wear a costume?
A: No, participants are not required to wear a costume. However, you would be a lot cooler if you did.

Q: Will pina coladas and margaritas be available at the post-race Land Shark Luau?
A: Yes.
